DESCRIPTION:CAKES FOR THE QUEEN OF HEAVEN “Not to be missed”! An exciti
ng program that examines important elements of our lives today that would
be different if\, when growing up\, the divine had been imaged as female.
Sponsored by the Womynspirit group at First Unitarian Congregation of Toro
nto (175 St. Clair West at Avenue Road)\nIN ANCIENT TIMES – Cakes Part I
  Wednesdays – Oct 10\, Oct 17\, Oct 24\, Nov 7\, Nov 14\, Nov 21\, 2012
6:45 pm – 9:30 pm - in the Spirit Play Room (room 205)\nNEW: This year w
e welcome men\, as well as women\, to join in “Cakes for the Queen of He
aven”. There is much that we\, not just as men but as whole evolving peo
ple\, can re-examine\, re-learn and realize through the Cakes for the Quee
n of Heaven program. How might our perspectives on life\, history and the
divine be enriched by exploring these teachings? Imagine how life would ha
ve been different for our fathers and grandfathers if they had known the w
ays of the mothers and grandmothers. Cakes for the Queen of Heaven is a wo
man-honouring course that’s not just about history and archaeology\; it
s also about women’s issues in a patriarchal society. It is about wome
n’s spiritual heritage. “Cakes” was developed as part of the Unitari
an Universalist (UU) adult religious education program. Come and participa
te in this joyful and educational workshop series. You are invited to shar
e your own experiences and beliefs. Together we’ll create sacred space a
nd work to change our stories. “It matters what we know – it matters w
hat we believe.” (Sophia Lyon Fahs\, 1952)\nHere’s what past participa
nts had to say: “Cakes was a unique opportunity for me to learn and shar
e information and experience about female divinity ... in a supportive gro
up\, face to face\, dance to dance. …we were awed at [the goddess’] an
cient history\, her underground history and her current relevance...”
Ysabeault\n&quot\;Cakes was truly eye-opening to me and provided me with
a new perspective from which to view biblical and pre-biblical female icon
 s. As a new visitor to First Unitarian\, Cakes provided me with a much nee
 ded connection to ... the UU community.&quot\; - Amy\nFacilitators: Ryan C
